Does my audio ever leave my device?
An honest, plain account of exactly what stays local and the only times the network is used.
This is the question that matters most, so here is the straight answer. Recording, transcription, summaries, chat, search, and translation all happen on your device. The developer runs no servers for any of it.
Two, and only two. First, a one-time download of the speech model so transcription can run offline afterward. Second, iCloud sync, but only if you turn it on, and even then your audio is encrypted and stays inside your own iCloud account.
What Echo Chamber does not do
- No account and no sign-in.
- No analytics, no telemetry, and no tracking.
- No ads and no advertising identifier.
- No bot that joins your meetings.
- No server owned by the developer that holds your recordings.
Permissions, and why they are asked
Permissions are requested only in context. Microphone and Speech Recognition are required so the app can hear you and transcribe on-device. Face ID, Notifications, Calendar, and Contacts are optional conveniences, and Screen Recording applies to Mac only. Declining the optional ones never limits recording or transcription.
