Import audio and video to transcribe

Bring in existing recordings, from MP3 to MP4, and get a transcript.

Updated 2026-06-14

You do not have to record inside Echo Chamber to transcribe with it. Import audio or video files you already have and turn them into searchable text on your device.

Common formats are supported, including MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, MP4, and MOV, so a voice memo, a downloaded recording, or a video file all work.

Importing an audio or video file to transcribe
Bring in a file and Echo Chamber transcribes it on your device.
  1. 1

    Open the import option

Choose to add a file from the app.

  2. 2

    Pick your file

Select an audio or video file from Files, the share sheet, or another app.

  3. 3

    Let it transcribe

Echo Chamber processes the file on your device and produces a transcript you can edit, summarize, and export.

Clean up noisy source audio

A recording with clear speech produces a cleaner transcript. Audio enhancement, with noise reduction and normalization, can help tame steady background sound in noisier files.
