Translate a transcript

Turn a finished transcript into another language, on your device.

Updated 2026-06-14

A transcript should be useful to everyone who needs it. Echo Chamber transcribes in many languages, and it can translate a finished transcript using Apple's on-device Translation framework, so the text is rendered in another language without leaving your device.

  1. 1

    Open a recording

Go to the transcript you want to translate.

  2. 2

    Choose Translate

Select the translation option on the recording's detail screen.

  3. 3

    Pick a target language

Choose the language you want, and the translated text appears.

Translation stays local

Translation runs on your device through Apple's Translation framework. The first time you use a language pair it may download once, and after that it works offline.

Best results in a single language

For the cleanest transcript and translation, try to keep one recording mostly in one language. Heavy switching between languages mid-sentence is harder for any model.
