Recording a meeting or lecture

Capture longer conversations cleanly, with speakers labeled automatically.

Updated 2026-06-14

Echo Chamber is built for real conversations, not just quick notes. There is no bot that joins your call and no setup beyond pressing record.

  1. 1

Place your device where it can hear

Set your phone on the table, screen up, roughly toward the people speaking.

  2. 2

    Start recording before things begin

A few seconds of room tone at the start helps the transcript settle in.

  3. 3

    Let it run

Background recording means you can take notes, check the time, or step out briefly without stopping.

  4. 4

    Stop and review

When the meeting ends, tap Stop. Speakers are labeled automatically, and you can name them.

On a Mac, let it offer to record

If you are on a Mac, Echo Chamber can detect when you join Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, and more, and offer to record both sides of the call. See the Mac guide for details.

A note on consent

Laws about recording conversations vary by place. When others are involved, it is good practice, and sometimes required, to let everyone know they are being recorded.
