Moving to a new iPhone

How to bring your money into a new device, and the honest truth about syncing.

Updated 2026-06-14

Because Vault keeps your data on your device for privacy, moving to a new iPhone works a little differently than apps that sync to the cloud. Here is the honest picture and your best options.

There is no iCloud sync in this version

Vault stores your data locally on each device and does not sync your financial data between devices through iCloud. This is a deliberate privacy choice for this version, so your data is not the same across your iPhone and iPad.

Your options for a new device

  • Re-link your bank through Plaid on the new phone to pull your transactions back in.
  • Re-import statements you have saved as PDF or CSV.
  • Export a CSV from your old phone first, so you keep a personal copy of your records.
Before you switch

Export a CSV from your current iPhone while you still have it set up. It is the simplest way to carry your history forward.
