How Cove uses iCloud

Cove uses a private iCloud database when available, with a local store as its fallback. That is the default storage path, not an in-app opt-in setting. Reflection and search run on your device; syncing journal records is a separate network path through your Apple account.

The fallback chain

• Private iCloud sync when the container is available.
• Local-only at the same location when it is not, so the app still opens and nothing is lost.
• In-memory with a plain-language alert only if the on-disk store is genuinely corrupt.

Export remains the backup you fully control either way.
